Ryan Reynolds will be suiting up to play anti-hero Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine currently in production.
Reynolds has been attached to both the role of Deadpool and The Flash in their own films for some time, but Deadpool's appearance in the X-Men spin-off is expected to be our first glimpse at the red and grey suited sword-swinging assassin.
Leading up to the events of X-Men, Wolverine tells the story of Wolverine's epically violent and romantic past, his complex relationship with Victor Creed, and the ominous Weapon X program. Along the way, Wolverine encounters many mutants, both familiar and new, including surprise appearances by several legends of the X-Men universe.
Meanwhile reports are that Friday Night Lights star Taylor Kitsch has signed a three-picture deal to play Gambit (AKA Remy LeBeau). The pair join Hugh Jackman (Wolverine), Liev Schreiber (Sabretooth), Danny Huston (William Stryker) and Lynn Collins (Silver Fox) in the 20th Century Fox release opening May 1st 2009.
Shooting moves to Sydney, Australia this week and some filming in Glebe Point Park is scheduled for next Friday.
