This fall sees the major US television networks offer up much more genre fair than we've seen in a long time, 17 shows a week. Incredibly FOX, which used to offer us more than any other network, only has two, both on Monday night.
NBC and ABC both offer three shows. ABC expands its Once Upon a Time franchise with a Wonderland spin-off and the highly anticipated Marvel Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. a spin-off itself of the Avengers series of films. NBC brings Revolution and Grimm back, while introducing Dracula right after Grim of Fridays.
CBS, like Fox only gives us two shows, both on the same night. Thursday's start with The Big Bang Theory and follows with Elementary, but no new series.
The one network that seems to be catering to fans of Sci-fi and Fantasy is Warner Brothers' The CW. 7 series, three of which are new this season. The week starts off with Beauty & The Beast moved to Mondays. Tuesday starts with The Originals, in the same time slot as ABC's SHIELD, The Originals tells the story of the original vampire family, then at 9pm season nine of Supernatural. Wednesday is Amell-day, as Stephen Amell returns for season 2 of Arrow, and a preview of next year's Flash series, then at 9pm the premier season of The Tomorrow People staring younger brother Robbie Amell. The very busy Thursday night starts with the fifth season of Vampire Diaries followed by the new period drama Reign, about Mary Queen of Scots.
