As is common with the Academy Awards, no genre films were nominated in the major categories. Animated Films did see a few genre films:
Best Animated Feature
Onward
Over the Moon
Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon
Soul*
Wolfwalkers
Best Production Design say Nathan Crowley nominated for Tenet. Tenet also got nods for Best Visual Effects.
Part of the issue this year was that a lot of big genre films were held back because of the pandemic.
