Paramount sets Star Trek Date

Paramount Films has reserved a date in 2023 for the release of a new Star Trek film.

While Quentin Tarantino development

had come and gone from working on a project that was to be a follow-up to Star Trek Beyond, it is possible that this is that project. Chris Pine (A365) and Chris Hemsworth (A1235) were reportedly underwhelmed by a second project in development with J.D. Payne (Lord of the Rings series--Wr335) and had walked away, causing Paramount to scrap it. This could also be a whole new project that JJ Abrams (Wr1182) has developed with his Bad Robot team.

Regardless Paramount has set a theatrical release date of June 23, 2023 for a new Star Trek film. This means they have about a year to finalize a script and get preproduction in place to start shooting in the second quarter of next year. A May-July shoot should give them time to edit and post-produce a film for June 2023, if not I'm sure the date will get shifted.
