R.I.P. Richard Donner


Legendary filmmaker Richard Donner passed away at 91. According to his wife Lauren Schuler Donner, and his business manager on Monday. No cause of death has yet been given.

Richard Donner was a staple of 70s and 80s action films, but his start was in the 60s with television. He directed episodes of Wanted: Dead or Alive, Wagon Train, The Riflemen, Have Gun - Will Travel, The Twilight Zone (6 episodes), Gilligan's Island, Get Smart, and Wild Wild West.

It was 1976s The Omen that transitioned him to film, then he directed Christopher Reeve
{67} and Margo Kidder{69} in Superman. He'd then make Ladyhawke with Rutger Hauer{56}, Matthew Broderick{71} and Michelle Pfeiffer{87}. He'd Direct Mel Gibson{14} and Danny Glover{115} in all four Lethal Weapon films. 

His most beloved film by fans was 1985s The Goonies, starring young Sean Astin{244}, Corey Feldman{64} and Josh Brolin{313}.

As a producer he oversaw the Lethal Weapon, Free Willy and Tale from the Crypt franchises, as well as Lost Boys and two of the X-Men films.
